DECISION MAKING

Decision Making is the thinking within one's own mind upon a course of action and coming to a conclusion. It pervades all organizational structure because  it cuts  across everything manager has to do in the organization.
Decision Making is a way towards problem solving and it must be said that decision comes in where there are alternatives from choice of decision must be made. However, there must be a situational incident before decision could be thought of.

PROCESS OF DECISION MAKING
1. Identify the problem
2. Determine the alternative
3. Critically evaluate the alternative
4. Suggest good alternative
5. Select the best alternatives
6. Analyse the possible consequences of the decision
7. Implement the best alternative selected
8. Follow up the decision
CONDITIONS FOR EFFECTIVE DECISION MAKING
1. Remember, you cannot please everybody
2. Time consuming exercise
3. Use creative thinking in decision
4.  Decision Making is a mental attitude which must be transferred to physical matter
5. Realise that change is inevitable as you make your decision
6. Realise that a decision will start or spark a chain of action or reaction
7. Realise there are several suitable satisfying choices or alternatives to choose from
8. Institute a follow up to each decision made
